Hello thanks for reading. I named my blog random thoughts for a very good reason, I never know what I'll write about. Actually I suppose that is what a blog is anyway, ya just never know.

I wanted to share a funny story with you all. I recently picked up a crochet project that I had started a couple years back and didn't finish it. It had started out as a crochet Afghan stitched from the granny square. As I worked I realized I wouldn't have enough yarn to make a full size blanket, and that this will be my first completed project for my granddaughter Sophia. It was nevertheless 'Sophie size'.
The colors were mauve, and light mauve. Although I would love to call them blush and bashful in my greatest southern accent from the movie Steele Magnolias, they were however, mauve and light mauve.
After working with what yarn I had left to finish it, I finally reached my destination. Completion!
I have many projects started, none complete in the crochet field. I proudly folded the blanket up and put it in a bag to give her tomorrow as I knew I'd be keeping the little chaps on an all day adventure while their mom and dad went to an amusement park for some fun.
When I arrive at their house and its just the kids and myself, I tell Sophie I have a surprise for her! Grinning ear to ear I pull the carefully wrapped blanket out of the bag and hold it up for her to see. She has her innocent smile on, with her finger up to her lip, and she is bouncing her little leg off the edge of the couch cushion. She's smiling at the blanket and smiles at me and asks, "You made me a carpet?" Well I felt ridiculous. A carpet? Where in the world would she get such a thought. So I cleared my throat and I said no Sophie, this is a crochet blanket made from yarn. Its a gift from me to you, ya know so you'll have something to remember me by. Then she looks at me and says "Where are ya going?" I laughed and said no where. Just part of life that Gammy's make things for their grand-daughters to have later on in life. I believe she understood.
But at that moment, I realized how precious life is, and each and every moment should be savored, and shared, and kept for later years to come.
Life is good. Family is forever!
